Cole, 33, who scored his first goal for The Sky Blues with a sublime free-kick against Barnsley on Tuesday was speaking to The Coventry Telegraph ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup tie at home to Northampton Town.
Under the original loan agreement with former Villa manager Tim Sherwood, Cole is eligible to feature in the competition for The Sky Blues, but new boss Garde could yet ask Sky Blues’ boss not to feature Cole.
“I’m 34 on Sunday and the way I play, certainly at the moment, I can’t play two games in the space of three or four days.”
“I don’t know what the situation is contractually with the cup at the weekend so we’ll look at that. But there’s still a few more games and I am more than happy to stay.
“It’s out of my hands and we’ll speak to people in two or three weeks when the loan is up.”
“I’d love to play on Saturday, love to play every minute of every game but I have to be sensible.
“There are 31 league games to go and that’s the bread and butter, so we’ll see how the body feels in a couple of days and go from there.”
“I’ve not had a chat with him yet (Remi Garde.) I can see why the club have appointed him and hopefully he’ll be good for Villa.
“I’m still a Villa player so it’s difficult to talk about them but let’s hope the club can start picking up some results.”
