Denzel Slager leaves Coventry City by mutual consent.

SLAGER, DenzelDutch striker Denzel Slager has this evening left Coventry City by mutual consent subject to FA and Football League approval.

Slager first joined the club prior to Christmas on trial before signing permanently from RKC Waalwijk in the January transfer window.

Since joining, Slager has made 4 appearances for The Sky Blues, making one start and three further appearances from the bench, failing to score.

City manager Steven Pressley explained the decision to allow Slager to return to Holland when speaking to the club’s official website,

“As we all know, it is sometimes difficult for a player to adapt from one country to another and even experienced players have struggled in the past.

“It’s regrettable that we find ourselves in this position as Denzel is a talented young player but at this moment in his development, he would prefer to continue his career in his homeland.

“We completely appreciate the level of committment Denzel has shown and we wish him all the very best in his future career.”
