Coventry City have completed the signing of highly-rated England youth international Dujon Sterling on a season-long loan from Premier League side Chelsea.
Sterling, 18, is an England Under-19 international was part of the side who won the Under-17 European Championship in 2017 and last season made his senior Chelsea debut in a 5-1 League Cup tie against Championship side Nottingham Forest.
Brought to the Ricoh Arena with a wealth of versatility, Sterling plays primarily as a right-back, but has also featured as a centre midfielder, wing-back and winger as he helped Chelsea win the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth Cup as an Under-16.
Manager Mark Robins said:
“I’m very pleased to have signed Dujon on loan until the end of the 2018/19 season.
“We would like to thank Chelsea for loaning Dujon to us, for what is his first loan spell from the club. He worked with Adi Viveash at Chelsea, so we’re very aware of what he will bring to us.
“Dujon is someone with great pedigree and a lot of potential, as shown by his international recognition, who will add another dimension to our play.
“Though primarily a defender, he can play anywhere down the right-hand side of the pitch and makes use of his skill and pace.
“We look forward to seeing him develop during his time with us and contributing to our season.”
Sterling becomes Robins’ seventh signing of the summer.
