Venue: Ricoh Arena
Competiton: npower Championship
Date/Kick off: Saturday August 6th, 12:30pm
Sky Blues manager Andy Thorn will be without striker Freddy Eastwood, who has been ruled out after picking up a hamstring strain during the 3-0 loss to Norwich last Saturday.
Despite Thorn’s best efforts, Marlon King, Keiren Westwood and Aron Gunnarson have all departed, with only Westwood’s position replaced by Joe Murphy and Chris Dunn, with it widely expected that Murphy will be the new number one.
As such, it is expected Thorn will field a team mixed aplenty with youth and experience.
City’s pre-season record reads played 6, won 3, drawn 2 and lost 1 having played against Nuneaton Town, Hinkley United, Leamington Brakes and Norwich City.
It has been a contrasting summer for the teams on either end of the M69, as City have only bought in 2 players, whilst former England manager, Sven Goran Erikkson brings the Foxes to the Ricoh, with no less than 10 new faces.
Backed by owners with plenty of money, Erikkson has bought in experienced players such as Kasper Schmeichel, David Nugent, Gelson Fernandes, Paul Konchesky, Matt Mills and John Pantsil.
Over pre-season Leicester have played 7 games, winning three, drawing two and losing two, with the two losses coming against Champions League opposition in the forms of Real Madrid and Valencia.
Sky Blues legend, Dion Dublin played in both the Sky Blue of Coventry and the dark blue of Leicester. Whilst at City he was the Premier League top scorer and won his first England cap of four. Dublin made 171 appearances for Coventry scoring 73 goals, and 65 appearances with 6 goals for Leicester.
New Leicester signings, Kasper Schmeichel and Matt Mills have also appeared in loan spells for Coventry, Schmeichel made 9 appearances between the sticks for the Sky Blues in 2008 on loan from Erikkson’s Manchester City, whilst Mills joined on loan from Southampton in 2004, making 4 appearances.
Kevin Pressman, Matt Heath, James Scowcroft, Trevor Benjamin and Lilian Nalis have also played for both teams.

David Nugent: The Foxes signed Nugent in July after his contract with Portsmouth expired. Nugent has one cap for England, scoring once.
Nugent started his career at Liverpool in their youth setup, before moving to Bury. But it was his time at Preston North End where he caught the eye. In 93 appearances for the Lilywhites he scored 35 goals.
