Two former Coventry City players from the 1980s have today been sacked as managers of their respected clubs.

Martin Jol, who made 15 appearances for The Sky Blues in 1984/1985 after joining from West Bromwich Albion has been axed as manager of Premier League side Fulham, with former Manchester United coach Rene Mulensteen taking charge at Craven Cottage.

Jol has been in the Craven Cottage horse at since June 2011, but won only 38 of 113 games in charge.

Meanwhile in The Championship, Sheffield Wednesday have relieved Dave Jones as manager.

Jones, who joined City from Everton for £275,000 made only 12 appearances in three seasons after a serious injury which threatened his career, before recovering and heading to China.

Jones took over at Hillsborough in March 2012 winning 29 of 81 games before leaving today.
