Coventry City manager Steven Pressley is reportedly chasing Dagenham striker Rhys Murphy to bolster his strikeforce.
Following the confirmation from the club this morning that League One’s leading goalscorer, Leon Clarke, has handed in a formal transfer request, and with Callum Wilson out for three months with a shoulder injury, City are in the market for at least one striking reinforcement.
It was publicly confirmed by Pressley that he was looking to bring in Chris Dagnall after his release by Championship side Barnsley following a loan spell with the club. However, with other clubs interested in his services and reported high wage demands, Pressley could now be looking at other options, with one being Rhys Murphy.
Murphy started his career at Arsenal, however failed to make a first team appearance for The Gunners, spending time on loan at both Brentford & Preston North End.
He then moved Ereste Divisie side Telstar where he scored 7 goals in 30 appearances before signing for Dagenham in July 2013 where he has 12 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions.
It is also being reported that Bradford City are rivalling City for the former Republic of Ireland Under 21 striker.
