Striker Chuba Akpom has officially returned to Arsenal after a six week loan spell with Coventry City.
Akpom, 18, originally signed for the club on a loan deal running until the end of the season back in February but this has now been ended.
Following the weekend’s defeat at Brentford, a team Akpom has previously spent time on loan with, Akpom hinted on Twitter his time with the Sky Blues had come to an end.
In a somewhat strange agreement with Arsenal, Akpom returned to the club for youth league and UEFA youth league games rather the staying with City full time, a decisiomn which last week was criticised by Sky Blues’ boss Steven Pressley.
Upon his return to Premier League side Arsenal, it is expected that Akpom will be The Gunner’s third choice out-and-out stirker behind Oliver Giroud & Yaya Sanogo after Niklas Bendtner’s antics in Denmark recently.
In total, Akpom made six first team appearances during his loan spelll, failing to score.
