Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has confirmed his desire to wrap up a deal to sign trialist Marcus Tudgay on a permanent deal.
Tudgay was released by Championship side Nottingham Forest at the end of last season after having a spell on loan at Charlton Atheltic, and has spent the last two-weeks on trial with The Sky Blues.
Tudgay travelled to Italy on the club’s pre-season tour and impressed against AS Roma B and AEL Kalloni of Greece.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Pressley said: “We’d like to bring Marcus into the group. We’re going to work hard on that and I’ve spoke to Steve (Waggott) about that.
“Hopefully we can come to an agreement with the player. When he arrived here, we spoke with his representatives about the perimeters we’re operating in.
“If we can come to an agreement, he’d be an excellent addition to the squad but until we secure that, I’ll not get excited.”
The 31-year-old started his career at Derby County before moving onto Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest, Barnsley and Charlton Atheltic.
