Coventry U-turn and start selling North Stand season tickets

Ricoh ArenaCoventry City Football Club have today performed a U-turn over season tickets in the North Stand of The Ricoh Arena following feedback from fans.

Originally, the club announced that season tickets would not be sold in the stand in order to help create a ‘better atmosphere.’

However, following feedback from fans, the club has announced that from today, season tickets WILL be able to purchase, but the stand will have a reduced capacity.

Rows behind LL will now be closed unless demand for certain matches is required to open these seats for general sale.

On the official club website, Chief Executive Steve Waggott revelaed more than 3,200 season tickets had been purchased following the move back to Coventry after a season 35 miles away at Sixfields, which saw the Sky Blues defeat Gillingham in their first match back at The Ricoh Arena since April 2013.

“We were all hoping for a great occasion on Friday night but I think it surpassed all our expectations. The atmosphere was unbelievable and Steven Pressley’s team really delivered on the pitch.

“Wouldn’t it be great if we could see a similar occasion on Saturday? The crowd and the team were bouncing off one another and Steven and the team all said afterwards how much the supporters drove them on.

“It’s fantastic to see that there is strong interest in Season Tickets again at the CCFC Superstore already this week and we are hoping for another really good turn-out at the weekend.

“We had lots of decisions to make in a very short space of time. Decisions that, ordinarily, we would have liked to have more time to consult supporters on.

“We have, however, listened to supporters over the past fortnight and having got through Friday from a logistical point of view, we’ve decided to look at this again.

“The North Stand will now be reopened and supporters will be able to purchase Season Tickets there from row LL downwards.

“Any supporters who have purchased Season Tickets elsewhere in the ground can now get in touch if they want to move back to the North Stand. A few supporters who moved to the South Stand have already been contacted because we have decided, with agreement from ACL, that it will be closed for matches – again unless demand dictates.

“It would be great to be in a position where we open up the South Stand and the whole of the North Stand each week because there is such strong demand from supporters. I am sure if the team produce more performances and results like Friday night then that will be the case.”
