Chelsea’s Diego Costa failed to break one of Mick Quinn’s Premier League goalscoring records this afternoon, after failing to score against Manchester City.

Costa, who joined Chelsea from Athletico Madrid in the summer, had scored an astonishing SEVEN goals in his first FOUR Premier League games and was looking to equal Quinn’s record of EIGHT in his first five games this afternoon.

The closest Costa came to grabbing the record equalling goal was when he struck Joe Hart’s post in the second half, before he was substituted by José Mourinho, bringing an end to his afternoon.

Amazingly, Quinn scored TEN goals in his first SIX Premier League games for Coventry City – a feat which would now require Diego Costa to score his second hat-trick of the season next week at Stamford Bridge against Aston Villa, to equal.
