Former Coventry City striker Robbie Keane this evening bowed out of international football for the Republic of Ireland, in their 4-0 win over Oman.

After making his international debut 19 years ago, Keane went on to make 146 appearances for The Republic of Ireland, scoring 68 goals – making him the record goalscorer for his country and level with German legend Gerd Müller in the list of highest international goal scorers.

Keane, 36, still holds the record for the highest fee received by The Sky Blues for a player when Inter Milan paid £13m for his services in 2000.

In his one season at Highfield Road, Keane would score 12 goals in 34 games after becoming the most expensive British teenager when City payed Wolves £6m for his services.
