Former Coventry City captain Carl Baker has this afternoon left League One side Portsmouth.
Speculation has been rife all summer linking Baker with a return to Coventry City to rejoin City boss Mark Robins at The Ricoh Arena and today his contract has been cancelled by mutual consent.
Despite the transfer window closing at 11pm tonight, Baker could still re-sign for The Sky Blues past this deadline as he is now a free agent, which exempts his move needing to be complete by this time.
Baker would not only rejoin Robins at The Ricoh Arena, but Michael Doyle, Liam O’Brien and fellow new signing Tom Davies, who were all crowned League Two Champions with Baker at Fratton Park last season.
A Coventry Telegraph poll earlier this summer showed that 96% of fans would welcome the former captain back at The Sky Blues.
