Leeds United have made an enquiry for new Coventry City captain Sammy Clingan.
Leeds’s manager Simon Grayson sees the 27 year old NorthernIrishman as the perfect solution to add quality and depth to his depleted midfield following the departures of Bradley Johnson and Neil Kilkenny.
The Whites have already secured Michael Brown on a free transfer following his release from Portsmouth, but Grayson is still looking to Assad Leeds look to secure a return to the English Premier League after missing out last season.
Clingan has one-year remaining on his current deal, and with City’s financial worries not at all secret, they may be willing to broker a deal with Leeds rather than lose their captain for nothing, like they did with Westwood, King and Gunnarsson, at the end of the season.
