September saw the Sky Blues pick up their first win of the campaign at home to Derby in front of the Sky cameras, before travelling to Ipswich and two more home games against Reading and Blackpool.
A second half penalty from Lukas Jutkiewicz and a goal from Carl Baker saw off The Rams and ensured City headed to Portman Road and the task of Ipswich in confident mood.
Despite the Derby result, Ipswich ran away 3-0 winners at Portman Road with goals from Jason Scotland, Keith Andrews and a Martin Cranie own goal.
A set of creditable draws at home to Reading and Blackpool followed, but despite picking up 2 further points, it could very easily have been all 6.
Lukas Jutkiewicz missed an injury time penalty against Reading, but in the balance of play a draw was a fair result as Reading too missed a penalty. Whilst Blackpool’s Keith Southern equalised in stoppage time.
