Coventry manager Andy Thorn has doubts over the fitness of Gary McSheffrey, Joe Murphy, Martin Cranie, Roy O’Donovan and captain Sammy Clingan heading into Saturday’s match. However, defender Richard Wood played 90 minutes and scored a goal in a 2-2 draw with Northampton Town in a behind closed doors friendly in midweek as he looks to overcome a torn thigh muscle which has ruled him out since the 3-1 defeat at Bury in the Carling Cup.
Former Leicester City manager, Rob Kelly will be in the away dugout following former England manager, Steve McClaren’s exit from the City Ground following their defeat to Birmingham City 12 days ago. Goalkeeper Lee Camp is confident of being fit to face the Sky Blues after he picked up an injury whilst with Northern Ireland, however the caretaker manager will be without former Sky Blue, George Boateng as well as Paul Anderson, Gareth McCleary, Dexter Blackstock and Chris Cohen.
Ian Wallace, Peter Hindley, Stuart Pearce, Ian Butterworth, Larry Lloyd, Jim McInally, Gary McSheffrey, Sammy Clingan, Eoin Jess, George Boateng, Darren Huckerby and Marcus Hall are among the players to have served both clubs.
Dimitrios Konstantopoulos had hoped to join that list … but his Forest career proved short-lived.
The Greek international goalkeeper joined Forest on loan from Coventry in March 2008.
He was scheduled to stay at The City Ground for the remainder of the season but unfortunately failed to make the end of his first day with the club.
Konstantopoulos suffered a serious Achilles tendon in his first training session as a Red and spent a prolonged spell on the sidelines nursing the injury.
He’s now with AEK Athens but is again facing a spell on the sidelines after recently undergoing spinal cord surgery.
