Coventry City captain Carl Baker has taken to social media to deny reports in the national press that Joe Murphy, Leon Clarke and himself can leave the club.
Baker wrote on Facebook; ‘Just to clarify the club have not told or asked us to leave because of financial reasons, yes we had discussions over the clubs [sic] situation and our future, but as long as we are contracted to this club we’ll always give our all and try to climb the league.’
Late last night, following City’s opening day 3-2 loss at Crawley Town, the national media speculated that the club’s three highest earners; Murphy, Baker and Leon Clarke we free to leave the club as they looked to save £1m a year in wages.
Manager Steven Pressley and Baker have now denied this, however it remains to be seen whether the trio are still with the club come the close of the transfer window on September 2nd.
