Centre back Aaron Martin has today rejoined The Sky Blues on loan from fellow League One side Yeovil Town, with Jordan Clarke making the opposite switch.
Martin, 25, originally made 12 appearances in 2012/2013 for The Sky Blues and impressed manager Steven Pressley enough to try and secure his services permanently in the
However Martin eventually joined The Glovers and has so far made 14 appearances and scored three goals for Gary Johnson’s men this season.
With Martin returning to The Sky Blues, right back Jordan Clarke has moved to Huish Park after finding first-team opportunities limited under Pressley in recent weeks.
Clarke has made 144 appearances for the Sky Blues after graduating through the academy on the opening day of the 2008/2009 Championship season.
Martin will remain with the club until January 2015, with Clarke remaining at Yeovil for the same time period.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Pressley spoke about the pair,
“Aaron first arrived at the club a couple of weeks before I took the job here and during that short spell he definitely impressed me,” Pressley said.
“We tried to bring him back to the club on a permanent deal this summer so I’m delighted that we’ve been able to revisit discussions with him and bring him back to the club on a loan basis.
“It has been a mutually beneficial arrangement between ourselves and Yeovil Town in that we have been able to bring Aaron here while at the same time allow Jordan Clarke to go in the opposite direction in order to try and secure more regular first team football.
“In Aaron we now have another defensive player who can also pose a threat at the top end of the pitch, proven by the three goals he’s already scored this season, so I’m excited by his arrival for a second spell with us.”
