Aston Villa have this evening parted company with first team manager Rémi Garde, naming former Coventry City manager Eric Black as caretaker manager.
Garde replaced former Coventry City captain Tim Sherwood at Villa Park at the start of November, signing a three and a half year contract but has been dismissed after just five months in charge.
Garde leaves Aston Villa with the club rock bottom of The Premier League, having picked up 16 points and three league wins all season. Garde, in charge for 20 league games, picked up two of the three victories, a miserable win percentage of just 10%.
Whilst Villa have already surpassed the lowest Premier League points total set by Derby County in 2007/2008, they are already all but relegated being 12 points from safety with only seven games remaining for the club.
The lowest points total whilst surviving relegation was set by West Bromwich Albion with 34 points in 2004/2005, which in perspective, would require Villa to win six of their final seven games.
