Coventry City's 130th anniversary, General news

Coventry City Greatest XI as voted for by @ccfctv followers.

Greatest XIWe asked you to name Coventry City’s Greatest XI as part of Coventry City Football Club’s 130th anniversary, and now we can reveal the results.

Unsurprisingly, club all-time appearance record holder Steve Ogrizovic takes the position between the sticks, fighting off nearest rival Bill Glazier, whilst unsurprisingly there is no place for the club record goal scorer, Clarrie Bourton, presumably because of the era in which he played for the club (1930s.)

In front of Ogrizovic are Swedish & English full backs Roland Nilsson and Stuart Pearce, with Terry Yorath (C) and Trevor Peake marshalling the defence from the centre.

Gary McAllister takes up a central midfield role alongside Gary Gillespie, whilst their flanked by Tommy Hutchison and Peter Ndlovu.

Unsurprisingly Premier League joint-top goalscorer in 1997/98, Dion Dublin leads the forward line alongside record signing, Robbie Keane.

Bill Glazier, Danny Thomas, George Curtis, Mustapha Hadji, Dennis Mortimer, Ian Wallace and George Hudson make up the substitutes bench.

Between the eighteen players there are 2,337 appearances and 214 goals.

  2. It should be Yorath in midfield and Gilespie at centre half.
