Sheffield United are reportedly looking to make a move for current joint League One top goalscorer (alongside Bradford’s Nahki Wells,) Callum Wilson.
Wilson, 21 has made an impressive start to the 2013/2014 Sky Bet League One season, finding the net five times in five appearances for the Sky Blues.
Previously, Wilson had only found the net once 14 appearances for the club.
The youngster has formed a prolific partnership with Leon Clarke this season, with the pair sccring nine goals between them, with both finding the net in Sunday’s 4-4 draw with Preston North End at Sixfields; a game where it is believed Sheffield United manager David Weir and his assistant, Wilson’s former Under 21 coach at the Sky Blues, Lee Carsley watched the young striker.
Carsley only left the club to join up with his former Everton teammate at Brammall Lane earlier this summer, and worked for a couple of years with Wilson in City’s development squad.
Wilson is just one of a number of strikers United are reportedly looking at, however they are yet to make a formal approach for Wilson, and it is still unclear whether one will be made before the close of the transfer window next Monday at 11pm.
There are also rumours that The Blades are looking at Coventry City captain Carl Baker, and John Fleck – a player who has previously had a loan spell at Brammall Lane from Rangers, with rumours suggesting that the paair trained with United yesterday, however this is unlikely to have been the case as no deals have been made for either player yet.
