Former Tottenham academy prospect Ruben Lameiras has this evening signed the two-year contract offered to him by Coventry City.
Lameiras, 20, had been on trial with The Sky Blues after leaving Åtvidabergs in Sweden, from who he had been on loan to from Tottenham.
His Tottenham contract expired at the end of June, when Sky Blues’ boss Tony Mowbray brought him in on trial.
The Portuguese can play in a variety of positions both forward and in midfield, and his potential excites Mowbray.
“We’ve had the chance to work with Ruben for more than a week now and in that time, he has really impressed us.
“In the games he has played with us, he has been bright and carries a real threat on the ball, like he showed in the second-half against Portsmouth.
“He’s got a great work ethic and whilst we know he isn’t the finished article, we see plenty of potential for him to progress with us and make an impact.
“Ruben can play central or on the wings so once again, we’ve got another player who can be a valuable option for us across the park.”
